Activities in the Holiday Region Zillertal Arena

With its roughly 2.000 inhabitants on an area of 2.4 square kilometres, Zell am Ziller is the heart of the Zillertal valley. It is the most important village of the valle in many aspects and is surrounded by mountains on every side. These mountains have something to offer for everybody: it could be hiking, walking, climbing, mountainbiking, paragliding, or much, much more.

Hospitality has a long history in Zell: sources from as early as 1428 indicate Italian travellers mentioning the good food and accomodation in Zell. It's not just the hospitality that has a long tradition, though: Zell is also home to the oldest private brewery of Tirol and hosts Austria's largest and most important traditional spring festival at the first weekend of May every year. 

The Zillertal Arena

The Zillertal Arena, covering the villages of Zell, Gerlos, Hippach, Königsleiten/Wald and Krimml, is a ski resort that makes winter so much more enjoyable. You've got holidays, we've got winter - what are you waiting for? The Zillertal Arena can provide you with fun, adventure and exhilerating days in the snow. White slopes and blue skies let you experience a feeling of freedom high up in the mountains. Apart from the fun in the snow, the villages povide you with opportunities for other activities - how about the longest tobboggan track in the Zillertal, a gold mine or a planetarium? 

The Freizeitpark Zell - adventure playground and sports centre

The Freizeitpark, or recretion park, in Zell offers you some exiting alternatives to skiing and snowboarding: an ice rink can be used for ice skating, curling and ice hockey, while there are also 4 lanes of bowling and tennis courts (indoors and outdoors!). The indoor courts in can be used in the winter and late at night, while the four outdoor courts also include a tennis wall and can be used in summer.

Covering an are of more than 45.000 square metres, the Freitzeitpark has something to offer for everybody: there's also minigolf, volleyball, street soccer, football, and of course the fantastic outdoor pool with slides, whirlstreams, sports pool, and much more!
